Not just content to produce world class prams to keep babies and children safe, Jané in an effort to continue protecting children has teamed up with Unicef to reduce child mortality. How are they doing this you might ask? By committing for the fourth year in a row to supporting that combat malaria in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Unfortunately, they still have the largest child mortality rate in the country, would you believe it counts for 7% of child deaths under the age of 5 on a world wide scale.

97% of the population live in high risk zones, spread out in a country with a surface area nearly five times bigger than Spain. Even worse is the understanding that this disease is spread by mosquito’s. Can you imagine having to combat this in Australia given our bug and insect propensity. In 2012, the campaign to distribute mosquito nets in the country reached 25 million people which was the equivalent of around 100,000 nets – that’s a lot of mosquito nets and a lot of children protected. The project is working really well though with a reduction in cases of malaria by 20% which is really impressive.

In continued support Jané makes a donation to Unicef from almost all of the pushchair 2013 catalogue. Each pushchair to thank customers also comes with an exclusive wristband “Jané & Unicef together against malaria”.
